Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Oliver "Hoyt" Powell age 88 of Rainbow City who died Tuesday. Dr. Craig Carlisle will officiate . Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.

Hoyt was a longtime member of East Gadsden Baptist Church, retired from South Central Bell and was an Army Veteran having served in The Korean Conflict. He enjoyed his breakfast buddies meetings at Jacks of Southside.

He was preceded in death by wife of 46 years Jackie Powell, parents Glover and Hattie Powell and siblings Imogene and Hollis.

He is survived by daughter Beverly Powell, brother, Hiriam Powell and sister, Ruth Powell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12 noon until the time of service.
