Monday afternoon July 17, 2017 Martha Odessa Stanley Richey went peaceful to her heavenly home at the age of 99. Born March 7, 1918, she was raised in the Aurora Community.

Odessa was preceded in death by her parents Willie Francis Stanley and Myrtle Mae Walker Stanley; and by her brothers Houston Stanley, Willard Stanley, and Floyd Stanley; and sister Velma Pate.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was devoted to Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior and to her family. She was always the joy of every family gathering and was loved by all who knew her. Cooking, sewing, and gardening were a few of her favorite passions. She never missed an opportunity to give her grandchildren and great grandchildren a meaningful word of wisdom. You could always find her Bible and her daily devotional beside her favorite chair.

She was married to the love of her life, Horace Zeddie "Zed" Richey for forty-six years until his passing.. They had two wonderful children Zeddie LaDon "Don" Richey of Glencoe and Martha Evon Blake of Wetumpka.

She was a loyal member of Sand Rock United Methodist Church for over 50 years. For the last twenty years, she was an active member of Glencoe First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed serving as a member of the Eastern Star for many years. Her most cherished role was that of homemaker to her family. Odessa was an avid Alabama fan and did not miss a game! She also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves every time they played. Truly she fought the good fight and kept the faith -2 Timothy 4:7. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She is also survived by; Faithful daughter-in-law Patricia Gulledge Richey. Grandchildren: Kim Richey Lewis, Jeff Lewis of Cartersville, GA, Tim Richey, Martain Crider Witt of Anniston, AL, Cassi Richey Kellett, Steven Kellett of Glencoe, AL, Jessica Poe, Jimmie Poe of Altus, OK, and Brandon Blake of Tuscaloosa, AL. Great Grandchildren: Macall Lewis, Parker Lewis, Brooke Richey, Peyton Lewis, Baylor Richey, Grayson Kellett, and Cooper Poe.

She had a great love for many nieces and nephews who were truly impacted by her life. She also loved her neighbors and friends at Thelma Edgar Senior Living Community where she resided for over 20 years. Special thanks to the Glencoe First United Methodist Church family for their continued loving support for "Grandmother Richey." Also, special thanks to the nurses and staff of Coosa Valley Health Care for their compassionate care during the past three months.
