Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Crestwood Funeral Home for Nona Jean "Mimi" White Stith, 81, of Gadsden, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 15, 2015. Reverends Charles A. Smith, Gerald Adams and Jeff Rowan will officiate. Burial will take place at Crestwood Cemetery with Crestwood Funeral Home presiding.
Jean was born in Dora, Ala., on May 3, 1934, to Homer and Luna White. She graduated from Gadsden High School in 1952. She married the love of her life, Charles "Pop" Stith and they shared 57 years together.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted member of Paden Baptist Church for 48 years. She served the Lord by leading programs for VBS, hand bells, children's choir, Sunday school, interim music director, and she served as church secretary for 34 years. Jean loved spending time with her family. She also played Rook every Monday night with her dear friends for 30 years. An example of hospitality, Jean's door was always open. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Jean is survived by four children, Ginger (Johnny) Belyeu, Chuck (Cheryl) Stith, Jeff (Kristie) Stith and Mike (Cyndi) Stith. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Emily Jean (Stewart) Fox, Melinda Wyatt, Stephanie (Cary) Tucker, Brian Stith, Jeffery (Jennifer) Wagnon, Lauren (Kevin) Lipscomb, Ben Stith, Hannah Stith, Haley (Chase) Dean, Adam Stith, Bethany Stith, Abbie Stith, Julia Stith and Caleb Stith. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Breanna and Haleigh Wyatt, Hayden, Mallory, and Bryson Tucker, Damien Lipscomb, Kagen and Jaxson Wagnon, and Cohen and Rylie Fox; brother, Winfred (Sandra) White; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; special friends, Hazel Jeffers and Janette Cole.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Dr. Alejandro Garcia and staff, and staff of Lawley's Hospice, with special thanks to Barbie, Whitney and Scottie. We are thankful for all the prayers and support of friends and family during this time.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
