Funeral service for Nina McDowel, 98, of Hokes Bluff will be held 2pm Saturday, August 6th at Crestwood Memorial Chapel. Mrs. McDowell Died Thursday, Aug 4th, 2022. The Rev. Anthony Copeland will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Nina was born October 27, 1923 in Atkins, Arkansas, to Earnest and Lizzie Murdock. As a young adult, she moved to Alabama to work at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant where she met her future husband, John McDowell. They married May 18, 1946 and were blessed with four children.

She was preceded in death by her son James McDowell, daughter Rena McDowell and husband John McDowell.

She is survived by her daughter Jana (Benny) West and Her son Larry (Lisa) McDowell; grandchildren, Karen Lowery, Benjamin (Candace) West, Shelby (Brian) Bush, Derric West, Mandy (Mark) Joyner, Deanna (Troy) Patterson, Laura (Pres) Overby, Emily (Hunter) Knight, Anna McDowell and Jesse McDowell; great grandchildren, Haley and Briana Lowery, Payton, Clay, and Blaine West, Austin and Aaron Bush,Bailey, Chloe, and Luke Joyner, Reece,Isabella and Gage Patterson , Dylan, Kennedy, and Easton Overby, Ellie and Abbie Knight.

Pallbearers will be grandsons; Benjamin West, Derric West, Troy Patterson, Pres Overby, Mark Joyner, Hunter Knight and Brian Bush.. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Immanuel Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until time of service Saturday.
