Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Crestwood Cemetery for Mrs. Nellie Ray, age 75, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021. Anthony Copeland will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Nellie was a DEVOTED mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and deeply loved by her community. She loved volunteering for the Hokes Bluff Fire Department for over 30 years and at Gadsden Regional Hospital. She was a school bus driver for Glencoe schools for 40 years, served on the board at Immanuel Baptist church, and on a variety of different boards for the city of Hokes Bluff.  She was passionately patriotic and gave unconditionally.

Nellie loved her Hokes Bluff Eagles. She was a proud 1963 graduate and was a charter member of the Eagle Band. She was a flag carrier and majorette her senior year and was crowned the Homecoming Queen in 1961.

Nellie was called "Momma Nell" and touched so many lives in a special way. She will be deeply missed.

Pall Bearers will be Hokes Bluff Fire and Police Department.

She is preceded in death by husband Leon Ray and parents Porter and Hazel Hill.

She is survived by her daughter Tracy (Jason) Minton, sons Brett (Tammi) Ray and Jason Ray, grandchildren Brittney, Breanna, Judah, and Hazelyn, great grandchild Allana Grace, and  many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless close family friends.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday and last until the time of service.
