Nathan Lee Harris, 88, was received into the hands of his Heavenly Father on November 11, 2015. Funeral services were at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, at Dwight Baptist Church. Burial was in Crestwood Cemetery with Rev. Larry Fuhrman officiating. Crestwood Funeral Home was in charge.

Nathan was born on May 17, 1927. He had a love for God, family, and music, teaching himself how to play the piano. He served several churches as Minister of Music including Oak Grove Baptist, Walnut Park Baptist, and his home church, Dwight Baptist. He served in the Navy, stationed in Guam, during World War II.
Nathan married his childhood sweetheart, Carlene Reid Harris (Tiny) on Oct. 4, 1947. They were married for 68 years and she preceded him in death by nine months. They are now celebrating a great reunion in heaven with other family who preceded him in death including a son in-love, Billy Robinson and two brothers in-law, Kenneth Reid and Bobby Reid. Nathan was a humble man of integrity who honored his marriage vows and selflessly cared for Carlene for 10 years following her stroke. He left a legacy of hard work without complaint, problem solving, faith, commitment and overcoming to his three children; Sharon Young, Cindy (Clark) Greer, and Mark (Alicia) Harris.

Retiring early from Seimens-Allis, Nathan spent the rest of his days learning new things and video-taping his nine grandchildren who called him PawPaw; Craig, Cari and Chris Robinson, Rachel Neal, Brandon and Jordan Greer, Jessica Thrower, Lyndsey Burleson and Brett Harris; and the 17 great-grandchildren God gifted to him.

He is survived by his sister, Jean Fisher of Missouri; brother in-law, Mack (Lynn) Reid of Sarasota, FL; sisters in-law, Margy Reid of Rome, GA and Fay Reid ; several nieces and nephews. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Special thanks to Kelly Parsons, Crystal Scott, Cheryl Davenport, Jessica Simmons, and Pat Lane who lovingly cared for Nathan.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Westbrook Christian School Scholarship Fund, at 100 Westminster Drive, Rainbow City, AL 35906.

"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day" 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
