Funeral services for Ms. Naoma Sewell Jones Sparks, age 83, of Glencoe, will be held 1 pm on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Crestwood Chapel. She passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.

Naoma was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama. She graduated from Gadsden High School in 1959 and attended Jacksonville State University before marrying and moving to Tuscaloosa and later Birmingham, where she raised her children, Geoff and Jenny. A dedicated and hardworking employee, she retired after 26 years of service with the State Retirement System, the majority of which were spent at UAB. Eventually, she returned to her hometown of Gadsden, where she spent her final years.

She was preceded in death by her infant sister, her parents, Curtis Sewell and Ruby Kelley Barnes, and her stepmother, Melba Sewell Mecham.

Naoma is survived by her son, Geoffrey (Cindy) D. Jones; her daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Jones; her grandsons, Douglas Jones and Dalton Hester; her sister, Connie (Charles) Sewell Wright; and many beloved cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bill Read, Perry Kelley, Charles Wright, Bryan Higgins, Danny Craft, and David Duckworth.

The family extends special thanks to the compassionate staff at Silver Lakes Senior Living in Glencoe and Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for their kindness and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to a charity of your choice or simply performing an act of kindness to brighten someone's day. Most of all, they ask that you remember Naoma and smile.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
