Funeral service was held Monday, August 8, at Crestwood Chapel for Nancy Ligon Lawson, age 71, Gadsden who went to be with the Lord August 4, 2011. Rev. Mark Cosby officiated. Burial was at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home directed services.
Nancy had retired from Nationwide Insurance. She was a Christian, as well as a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, and sister. She was loved by all and will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her father Thomas L. Ligon, Sr; brother Thomas L. Ligon, Jr; sister Martha Sue Jacobs; and niece Karen Henson.
She is survived by her mother Helen Ligon; sister Charlotte (Dink) Cosby; son William Stephen Lawson; daughter Yvonne Lawson Mitchell; grandchildren Kristy Ward, Mallory Mitchell, and Megan Mitchell; great grandchildren; sister in law Annese Ligon; and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to express their special thanks to the staff at UAB Cancer Center, Sun Crest Home Health, and the staff of Southern Care Hospice- especially Karol, Pam, and Debra.
