Mrs. Nan Alice Pentecost (Ne Wilson) of Gadsden died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 5th at age 90. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 9th at the Rainbow City First United Methodist Church in Rainbow City, AL. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Hutchinson-Phillips Sunday School Class. The Reverend Dee Dowdy will officiate the service. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Nan was born on March 28th, 1927 in East Thomas, Alabama, and was a lifelong Gadsden resident. She is preceded in death by her son, Eric Pentecost Jr., her parents, Imogene and Alfred Wilson, and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Eric Pentecost, daughters, Marsha McCleary, Judy Owens, Margaret Patrias (Ken) and son, James Pentecost. She is further survived by five grandchildren, fifteen great- grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Nan was a kind and generous person who always offered assistance to those in need. She was a proud graduate of Gadsden High School and enjoyed attending the Golden Tiger reunions for many years. She was a faithful member of the Rainbow City First United Methodist Church for more than thirty-five years, where she was well known for her delicious pecan pies and cookies. She also possessed a thirst for knowledge and was an avid Jeopardy fan. Nan was proud that all of her children were college-educated. Nan and Eric were also able to award over 100 scholarships to worthy students at Gadsden State Community College.
