Our much beloved husband and father, Milford L. Garmon, Sr, age 86, Glencoe, was called home by his heavenly Father Tuesday, March 30, 2010 after an extended illness. The funeral service will be at 2:00pm Thursday at Crestwood Chapel. The Rev. Vince Whittington, Rev. Ken Casey, and Evangelist Trent Garmon will officiate, and music will be provided by Rev. Barry Benefield. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
He leaves with us his wife of 14 years, Lois East Garmon; her children Ted (Rosemary) East, Connie (Joe) McGrew, and David East; and grandchildren Marie (Cass) Cole, Ginger Kell, Kristy (John) Turner, Celeste (Moises) GomeZ, Joseph McGrew, Matthew (Jamie) East, John (Dawn) Fordham; and 18 step great grandchildren.
He will be welcomed in Heaven by his wife of 47 years, Wynell Cagle Garmon; parents Walter and Lillie Garmon; brothers Ben Garmon, Charles Garmon, and Huston Garmon; and sisters Ruth Garmon Mackey and Sue Garmon Burke.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his two children, son Leon (Harriett) Garmon of Whortons Bend and daughter Carol (Ken) Hubbard of Glencoe. He will be forever embraced in the memories of his cherished grandchildren Cam Garmon, Trent (Holly) Garmon, Wesley (Jill) Garmon, Leslie (Kevin)Garmon Butler, Holly Hubbard, and Haley (Keith) Hubbard Beason; and great grandchildren Cameron Garmon, Lacey Garmon and Owen Beason. He will be greatly missed by his brother Donald (Nell) Garmon, and his sister Clara Hopkins. He leaves with wonderfull and loving memories numerous nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends. He was our hero and part of us, for we are all part of him.
Milford never met a stranger and loved everyone. He was born in Cherokee County and lived most of his adult life in Glencoe. He was a loyal employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 43 years. He was a member of Glencoe First Baptist church for over 60 years. He actively participated in the Glencoe Senior Citizens Outreach Programs, the El Senor Club, and the Goodyear Retirees. Mr. Garmon was also a member of the Glencoe Civitans and was recognized as the Man of the Year in 1994-1995. He had a passion for Southern Gospel Music and frequented Gospel Singings. He was an ardent follower of his children's and grandchildren's and was their greatest fan. He was generous with his love and tireless with his commitment to all of his community endeavors. Let his legacy be one of eternal love for his family and love of helping others.

Pallbearers will be David Cagle, Trent Garmon, Wesley Garmon, Ted East, David East, David Garmon, Wayne Garmon, Joe McGrew, and Joseph McGrew.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Glencoe Senior Center, Glencoe First Baptist Church family, and friends and coworkers of Goodyear Dept. 352 B and D.
Special thanks to the loving caregivers who looked after Dad: Joyce and Beth Bellew, Rita Burns, Nancy Morris, Sarah Kanady, Christy Davila, and the staff of Southern Care Home Health and Hospice, Comfort Care Home Health and Hospice, and Amedysis Home Health and Hospice who attended to him on a regular basis.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from noon until the hour of service.
