Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Mildred "Shorty" Standridge age 85 of Gadsden who died Monday. Reverends Daniel Barkley and Steven Gillum will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mrs. Standridge was a longtime member of East Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was an avid gardener who loved flowers. She lunched at local diners where she enjoyed her "Lunch Friends" and they would check on her if she wasn't there daily. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband Avery Standridge, parents Alva Hughes and Nalda and (Earl Glidewell) , brother J.T. "Bubba" Hughes.
She is survived by son Gary Standridge, daughter Lea Ann(Barry) Clayton, grandchildren Emily(Steven Gillum, Lauren(Zack) Tumlin, Scott(Tiffany) Clayton, Rebecca Standridge, April, Olivia(Chad) and Holley. Great Grandchildren Karis, Lydia, Avery , Tallye Kate, Anna, J.J., Elijah, Ethan and Avery and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Scott Clayton, Steven Gillium, Zack Tumlin, Blane Clayton, and Randy West.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 11 am until the time of service.
