Funeral will be 1 pm Saturday at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Mildred Whitt Alford age 88 of Gadsden who died Wednesday. Pastor Chad Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mrs. Alford loved the Lord and loved attending church. She was a loving Wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend to all. She was a seamstress, gardener who canned what she grew and a cook extraordinaire. She had all the talents a wonderful grandmother will be remembered for. Her children loved her dearly and still argue over which is her favorite, all the while knowing she loved them all equally.
She is preceded in death by husband Talmadge, parents Eddie and Gladys Whitt and stepfathers Gus Nabors and Bill Manis.
She is survived by Children Wayne(Judy) Alford, Sharon(Blair) Ballish, Charlie(Cindy) Alford, Don(Gina) Alford, Barry Alford and Karen(Buddy) Holderfield Rawls.Twenty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, sisters Betty (Lynn) McDonald and Melba (Bob) Bishop.
Pall bearers will be grandsons.
Special thanks to staffs of Northside Healthcare, Gentiva Hospice and grandson Brandon who was there when she needed him most.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 5 until 7 pm.
