Obituary

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, at First Baptist Church of Glencoe for Michael Lindsey "Mikee" Elsberry, age 65, of Gadsden , who passed away October 25, 2013. Rev. Phillip Elliott will officiate and Keith Chambers, Donna Ingram, and Kristi Nichols will provide the musical selections. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.

Mike was a native of Etowah County, had moved to Danville, Virginia for 10 years, and after retiring returned to Gadsden. He had worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 32 years and had served as minister of music at many churches in the Etowah County area. He was a very dedicated family man; his wife, son, daughter, and precious granddaughters know they were dearly loved by him.

He is preceded in death by his father Lindsey Elsberry, father in law Clifford "Junior" Bartlett.

He is survived by his wife Becky Bartlett Elsberry; son Shane Elsberry, Daughter Staci (Daniel) Henson; granddaughters Abbi and Chloe Henson; mother Opal Elsberry; brother Randy (Cindy) Elsberry; sisters Nancy (Steve) Schrader and Rhonda (Stanley) McClellan; mother in law Lois Bartlett; sister in law Debbie (Donnie) Whorton; special buddy and nephew Jay Whorton; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews; and many friends, from Alabama to Virginia that he loved.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Glencoe Kindergarten, 103 North College Street, Glencoe, AL, 35905 or Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, Virginia, 24541.

Pallbearers will be Joey Clark, Jeremy King, Joe Brothers, Neal Cook, Rex Miller, and Tim Franklin.

Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth Laughlin, Max Littlejohn, Jerry McElhenny, and Chuck Jordan.

Special thanks to Max Littlejohn, Cora and Jerry McElhenney, Danville Virginia Police Department, Danville Life Saving Crew, and the staff of Townes Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7pm tonight at First Baptist Church of Glencoe.
