November 2, 1956 – September 3, 2021
Michael L. Dobbins Sr., A custodial supervisor at Blind Brook High School of 18 years, and long time resident of Port Chester NY, entered into his eternal life September 3 rd , 2021 in Rome Georgia.
Michael Dobbins Sr. also known as "Big Mike" was born on November 2 nd , 1956 to the late Betty Sue "Elizabeth" Dobbins and late Floyd "Killer Whale" Douthit Jr., in Gadsden Alabama. Michael later moved to Port Chester, New York where he met and fell in love with Michelle Bray
Michael is survived by his step-father James "Jimmy" Whiteside and spouse Michelle Bray. Michael also leaves behind five kids. Mikisha D. Dobbins, (Center, AL), Michael L. Dobbins Jr. (Port Chester NY) Raheam M. Dobbins (Port Chester, NY) Shaeam M. Dobbins (Ingrid Ianoaol) Mt Kiscony and Theresa K Bray (Center Alabama), Along with his grandchildren Na'im Q Dobbins, Amari S Cooper, Tyler J Dobbins, Olivia-Michelle A. Bray, and Bailey M. Dobbins, he leaves behind his sister Sheila Bolek (Paul) (Sarasota FL) Eric Whiteside (Teresa) (Rye, NY) and Rodney Whiteside (Port Chester NY). Michael was proceeded by his youngest brother Anthony Whiteside, Uncle Willie "Shorty" Dobins, Grandparents Odessa Lacey and Willie "Buddy" Dobbins, Pecan Floyd Sr., sister Beatrice McRath Douthit, Vera "Big Mama", and Sam Ivey. Michael leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, cousins; special cousin Kerry Douthit, nieces, nephews, and friends.
"Big Mike" had a love for music, sports, and films. "Big Mike" was a family oriented man who was loved by everyone he encountered. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend Lily. Michael attended Norris Elementary School and PCHS in Port Chester, NY 10573, in Michael Rye Brook school district.
"Big Mike" will be remembered by the community as a youth mentor in addition to being president of the Brother United Power Hour in Port Chester, NY.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 16, 2021, 2:00 PM at Crestwood Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Crestwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
