January 8, 1952 – July 1, 2024
The funeral service will be at 1 pm on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Crestwood Chapel for Sergeant Melvin "Ted" Henegar of Jacksonville, AL who passed on July 1, 2024. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 11 am until 1 pm. Burial will be in Alabama National Cemetery located in Montevallo, AL. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct services.
Ted will be remembered as a Christian who loved the Lord and loved to spread God's Word. He had preached for a while. He was very talented in so many ways. He was an artist and painted lifelike portraits. He was a songwriter and loved singing his songs with the church choir. He loved his country and served in the US Air Force. Ted especially loved his family from his wife, daughter, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Ted loved everyone and they loved him. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn "Jeanean" Henegar; parents Leon and Edith Henegar, mother in law Ruby Jean Baker, brother Lloyd Bennet Henegar, brothers in law Bill Hicks and Ronald Howell, niece Catherine Howell.
He is survived by his daughter Lanae Henegar; sister Melda Henegar Hicks; brothers Rev. Howard N. (Ann) Henegar of Stanfield N.C. and Rev. Kenneth (Linda) Henegar of Millport, AL; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special Thanks to the family, church family, and sitters, Deborah Pledger, Michelle Medley, and Kristy Langford for the love and concern shown while caring for Ted.
