IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melba
Lee
April 4, 1938 – February 23, 2023
Melba Rosemary Lee, age 84, of Anniston, Alabama, passed away from advanced Alzheimer's disease on February 23rd at 8:11 am. She was born on April 4th, 1938 in Mississippi to her parents Dillard Florence Nelson & Ruby Jewel Nelson.
Melba was married to Sterling Lee for 62 years before his passing in April 2017. Together they lived and raised a family in Anniston, Alabama. They were devout members of the First Baptist Church of Saks family and served there regularly.
Anyone who knew Melba understood she had a servant's heart. She was a strong woman of faith, a devoted wife and mother and a loving grandmother and great grandmother. Melba showed love through giving. This included baking sweets and giving time. She was wonderfully creative. Her skill for crafts and painting were celebrated and seen around countless homes especially at Christmas. She had a keenly dry sense of humor and she loved deeply and with great care. For those close to her, she was the best kind of person you could know and love.
Melba is survived by her two children Lynne Lee Swindle and Glynis Lee Fuqua, two sons in law Ronald Brian Swindle and Joseph Allan Fuqua, 5 grandchildren Leigh Swindle Kellogg, Joseph Tyler Fuqua, Hannah Fuqua Harrison, Aaron Thomas Swindle, and Mary Claire Lalane, their spouses Ryan Russell Kellogg, Allison Pittman Fuqua, Jonathon Mitchel Harrison, Kristen Pauff Swindle, and Charles John Lalane, and 9 great grandchildren Waylon Russell Kellogg, Duke Joseph Fuqua, Hardy Pittman Fuqua, Ivy Gene Fuqua, Caleb Lee Harrison, Eli Luke Harrison, Nora Elizabeth Swindle, Nathan Sterling Swindle, and Charles John Lalane Jr . She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday at First Baptist Church of Saks at 3 pm.. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Not Forgotten, a family charity.
The family will recieve friends at the church, Sunday from 2 pm, until the time of service.
