Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Crestwood Cemetery for Mary Alva Smith Clay, 90, Gadsden, who died October 1, 2009. Anthony Copeland will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Clay was born and raised in Arab, AL, attended Arab High School, moved to Gadsden, married Perry R. Clay and raised 3 children. She departed this life October 1 and is now living with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved family, loved to cook big meals and always ready to help others. A member of College Heights Baptist Church and was a past Nobel Grand of Rebecca's Lodge.
She was preceded in death by husband; Perry R. Clay, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
She is survived by her children; Sue (Donald) Copeland, David (Vickie) Clay, Dr. Ricky (Emily) Clay; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sister's-in-law; Frances Clay, pat Clay, numerous nieces and nephews.
