Obituary

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Julia Hall Scarbrough, age 89, of Glencoe, who passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014. Rev. Roy Moore and Chaplin Dave Roberts will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.
Mrs. Scarbrough was born on September 5, 1924 in DeKalb County and was a graduate of Geraldine High School Class of 1942. Later, she moved to Glencoe and lived there the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and the Gentle Spirit Circle. She was an avid lifelong Alabama Crimson Tide fan and lived life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Ed Scarbrough; parents, Buris and Bess Hall; father-in-law and mother-in-law, O.H. and Mae Sims and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Sims Browning.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay (Randall) Gray; grandsons, Ron Gray and Doug (Sharon) Gray; great grandchildren, Jordan Gray and Hunter Gray; step great granddaughters, Brittney (Chris) Jacobs and Kaitlin Lloyd; step great great grandson, Evan Jacobs; special nieces, Betty Huff and Harriet Roberts; special nephew, Jimmy McClendon and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Penny, Jeff Stanley, Ray St. John, Eddie Skaggs, Ricky Jenkins, Arnold Walker, Doyce Day, Scott Stewart and Jr. Benson.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jason Ayers, Kent Henslee, Bennett Tucker and members of the Glencoe Sr. Outreach program.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to the Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church or to the Samaritian's Purse.
Special thanks to Dr. Jason Ayers and his staff for their love and care and also to the staff of Lawley Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
