Mary Golden Phillips departed this life on Monday, Jan. 7, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Altoona, Ala., on October 6, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Golden and Bertha Harper Golden; her brother, Howard Golden; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Jack Phillips Jr.; her sisters, Lois Havens, Marie Matthews, Christine Erwin, Ruth Musick (Dale) and Marlene Jackson (Garnett); her sons, J. Michael Phillips (Linda), Tim Phillips (Tina); granddaughter, Kelly Phillips Blankenship (Justin); her grandsons, Michael S. Phillips, William R. Phillips, John S. Phillips and Logan M. Phillips; step-granddaughters, Stephanie O. McGee and Caroline O. McGee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was a graduate of Altoona High School and a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church of East Gadsden. She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
The family is deeply appreciative of her physician, Dr. Thomas Corley; her pastor, the Rev. Darrell Brown; all of her caretakers from Amedisys Hospice, Misty Allen and Carrie Benefield.
Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Crestwood Funeral Home, with funeral services following at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1145 Hoke Street, East Gadsden, AL 35903.
