Funeral will be at 11: 30 a.m. Friday at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Louise McCluney Bridges, 101, Gadsden, who died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016. The Rev. Rodney McInnis will officiate with a Eulogy by Chuck Watson. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
She was a graduate of Glencoe High School and a longtime member of Glencoe Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She and husband James were house parents for over 30 years at Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home in Denton, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James L. Bridges; parents, C.C. and Mary McCluney; sister, Grace (E.R.) Cardwell; brothers, Jerry McCluney and Charles McCluney; niece, Nancy Cardwell; and nephew, Jim Cardwell.
She is survived by nieces and nephews who loved her very much and will miss her sense of humor and Southern charm. Special great-niece Tina (Larry) Peppers, special great-nephews Glenn Murphy and Sean Murphy, special great-great niece Katie (J.T.) Hartman, special niece Joyce (Roy) Powell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to James and Louise Bridges Scholarship Fund, Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home, P.O. Drawer G, Denton, Texas 76202.
Pallbearers will be Larry Peppers, Jeff Stanley, Jimmy Penney, Dwight Benson, Ray St. John and Chuck Watson.
Honorary pallbearers are the Wright Family, Panthea Nabors, Jimmy and Jane Penney, Faith in Deed and Gentle Spirit Circles. Thank you all for the visits, prayers and words of encouragement.
