IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Melissa
Mccallie Thacker
June 1, 1955 – March 1, 2025
On Saturday, March 1st, 2025, Mary Melissa McCallie Thacker was called home to the Lord's house, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and devotion. Born with a tender spirit and a vibrant imagination, Mary graced this world with her warmth and kindness, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Emma Lou Riddle and Newman Riddle on her mother's side, and Lydia McCallie and Samuel McCallie on her father's side. She is also reunited in eternal peace with her parents, Helen McCallie Riddle and Oren Eugene McCallie, who surely welcomed her with open arms.
Mary's memory will be forever cherished by her devoted husband, Philip Reedy Thacker; her beloved son, Daniel Riley Thacker, and his wife, Shelby Thacker; and her treasured grandsons, Riley James Thacker and Sawyer Jareth McCallie Thacker. She is also survived by her brother, Jed Edward McCallie, and his wife, Terri McCallie, as well as her sister, Lou Ann Bush. Numerous cousins and dear friends mourn her passing and celebrate her life.
A proud graduate of Gadsden High School, Mary possessed a lifelong passion for reading and writing. Her love for books was matched only by her talent for creating them. She found joy in drawing and painting, her artistry reflecting the beauty she saw in the world. Music was another of her loves, a soundtrack to a life rich with meaning and connection. Above all, Mary's greatest delight was her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.
Her kindness, creativity, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service to honor Mary's life will be held this Friday, the 7th of March, at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Mary's memory to a cause close to her heart.
Though she has departed from this world, her spirit will remain in the hearts of those she loved.
