Funeral service and burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery with Minister Ronald Bryant officiating.
Mary served as Glencoe PTA president in the 1950's and was a founding member of the Etowah County Association for Retarded Children. She served Gadsden's special education Girl Scout troup and was on the board of directors for the Snellgrove- Civitan Center (for mentally challenged children). Mary served locally and statewide with the N.A.L.C auxiliary, including national conventions, and volunteered for United Way. In the 1990's she worked as manager of the Elliott Senior Citizens Center. Her most cherished vocation was caretaker of her family.
She was a member of Central Church of Christ and had been a Christian for most of her life.
Precedents in death were her husband, Amos Hansard, parents Franklin E. and Sidney Stewart Minton, and brothers Dr. Franklin C. Minton and Dennis Minton.
She is survived by daughters Anne Hansard Harris , Joyce Hansard , and Martha Hansard; son in law Milton Harris; grandchildren John Harris and Kathy Howard; 7 great grandchildren; Sister in law Jean Minton; several nieces and nephews; and "my best friend" Mary Higgins.
If desired, memorials may be made to Rainbow Omega of Eastaboga, Alabama in lieu of flowers.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her friends at Holy Comforter House and area Churches of Christ.

The family will receive friends at Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home from 5 until 7pm Friday February 11 and funeral service will be at Crestwood Chapel at 11 AM, Saturday, February 12, 2011. Burial will immediately follow at Crestwood Cemetery.
