Funeral services will be at 2pm Thursday January 9,2014 at West Park Heights Baptist Church for Mary Alice Hamby age 71, of Anniston who died Saturday, January 4, 2014. Rev. Jim Kelley will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, with Crestwood Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Hamby was born in Mobile, AL and became a lifelong resident of Anniston. She had extraordinary talent as a pianist which she shared with her church,family,friends and through mission work in Brazil and Peru. She was also a gifted artist. She was a longtime member of West Park Heights Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who will be greatly missed.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gwindel Hamby and her parents, Rev. Laula J. and Louise Chambliss.
She is survived by her daughter, Nan (Joel) Duke; grandson, Joshua; sisters, Nancy (Rod) Lane and Sherrill (Poe) Blackwelder; aunt, Sybil Duncan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2pm Thursday at West Park Heights Baptist Church.
