Funeral services will be 1 pm today at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Mary Griffith age 83 of Gadsden who died Thursday. Reverends Joe Dismuke and Ray Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mrs. Griffith was a Christian who loved her church from singing in the choir to getting involved in all activities they had to offer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all. She loved everybody and they loved her. She will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Herchel and Bernice Prater, daughter in-law Debbie Griffith and brother Jerry Prater.
She is survived by husband of 65 years J.W. Griffith, son Rick Griffith, grandchildren Jennifer (David) Sides and Jason Griffith, great grandchildren Isabelle and Sam Sides and sister in-law Wylodine Quinn, brother in-law Alton (Alvah) Griffith as well as nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Whorton Bend United Methodist Church.
Special thanks to all members of her church and neighbors who were there when we needed them, 9th floor nurses and staff of Gadsden Regional Hospital, Coosa Valley Health Care and especially sister in law Wylodine Quinn.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 11 am until the time of service.
