Mary Ruth Alverson Gladden 86, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in
Gulfport, MS, after a short illness. She was born on Mar 20, 1937, in Gadsden,
Etowah Co., AL. She was the daughter of the late Willie Lucille M. Graves and
Shelley Paul Alverson. She was preceded in death by her husband Elton Leon
(Jack) Gladden and a son Randy Leon Gladden.
She is survived by a son, Jody Ladon Gladden Marino (Thomas) of Gulfport, MS.; a
grandson, Terry Leon (Hanna) Gladden and great-grandson Branson Lane Gladden
and great-granddaughter Emma Brianna Gladden; a grandson David Gregory
(Jennifer) Marino and great-grandchildren: Ren, Alexis, Brett, Brendon, Daniel and
Melody. Thom's sister, Nancy Marino Mahondaughter Emily (Arthur) Luna and
grandson Dean. Heartfelt thanks to her special sisters, Era Sheffield, Carolyn
Dixon, Linda Sexton and Judy Alverson; and her nephew Donny and nieces
Rhonda and Darlene. Special appreciation to Driftwood Nursing Center for taking
care of mother while she was there only a short time. Jody and Thom pampered
her with nights out at restaurants, weekly Casino trips and monthly Spa Days
while living with them on the coast of Mississippi.
There will be a private family memorial at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery,
Gadsden, AL at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 13, 2023. Special thanks to her brother-in-
law Michael Gladden and his son Michael Gladden Jr. for helping with
arrangements and Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home.
