IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Katherine
Fordham
November 14, 1930 – July 2, 2023
MARY
KATHERINE FORDHAM
November
11, 1930-July 2, 2023
Mary Katherine
(Cat) Fordham, 92, of Gadsden, Alabama, passed away on July 2, 2023, after a long
battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at
Crestwood Cemetery. Scott Hill and
Brandon Towe will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home will direct services.
She is preceded in death
by her parents Jessie Vernon Fordham and Amy Lou Brown
Fordham, brothers Talmadge Fordham, and Colon Fordham.
Cat is survived by
her sister Marilyn Fordham Hill and brother Gene(Pam)Fordham. She is survived by numerous nieces and
nephews.
She retired after
33 years of service from the Atlanta Gas Light Company. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending
time with family. Her travels took her
to most all the states. She would take
hundreds of pictures and compile photo books of all her journeys. Her most exciting trips were to Hawaii and
England. Cat was a very professional
lady who always dressed like a model.
She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. She was a giving person and always made you
feel like you were the most important person in the world. Later in her retirement, she was a caregiver
to her father who lived to be 98 years of age. She touched many lives with the love and care
she showed to everyone. She was a
strong, independent lady who always put her best foot forward. Aunt Cat had a good long life, and we thank
her for all the wonderful memories she has left us with and the love and care
she always showed to all her nieces and nephews. She was proud of every accomplishment we made
in our lives. When Aunt Cat would visit for
the weekend, it was always a special occasion for everyone. She was a very special aunt and will be
greatly missed by all her family. She
was a member of Glencoe Church of Christ.
Pallbearers will be Billy Towe, Casen Towe, Todd Burns, Chandler
Hill, Jessie Walden, and Charlie Smith.
Special thanks to
Southern Care New Beacon Hospice, Dr. Courtney Lowe, and Legacy Village of
Jacksonville where she has lived for the past seven years. A special thank you to the workers at Legacy
Village: Jessie Waites, Robbie Bell,
Brenda Reaves, and all the caregivers and employees took care of Aunt Cat. We appreciate all the love and care shown to
her by everyone while she lived at Legacy.
In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the funeral home.
