Funeral services were held Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Crestwood Funeral Home for Mary Argyle Crawford Glassco, 87, of Rainbow City, who passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016. Rev. Darrell Brown will officiate. Burial following in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Glassco was born March 31, 1929, in Marshall County. She attended Douglas High School. She married C.V. Glassco on April 27, 1946. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1958, where she was involved in WMU, X Y Z senior group, benevolence committee, and kitchen committee. She was a member of Local 12 Ladies Auxiliary, where she held several offices and represented them at several national conventions. She was a member of the Local 12 Retirees Club and held several offices. She was an excellent seamstress, having sewed for the public for several years. She loved traveling with her husband to Credit Union meetings and union conventions. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Glassco was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, C.V. Glassco; her parents, Lester and Bonnie Crawford; and brothers, James Crawford, Erby Crawford, and Joe Crawford.
She is survived by her children, Kirby (Carol) Glassco, Vanessa (Stan) McClendon, and Todd Glassco; grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Johnson, Melanie (Johnny) Thrasher, Craig (Melanie) Glassco, Atlanta, Ga., and Meridith (Gary) Parker; great-grandchildren, Joshua Thrasher, Presley Johnson, Nolan Johnson, Jacob Thrasher, Sydney Parker, Garrett Parker, and Alexander Glassco; brothers, Frank (Mickey) Crawford and Ira (Gayle) Crawford; sisters-in-law, Patricia Crawford, Gloria Glassco, and Bobbie Glassco; brother-in-law, Bobb (Pat) Nunn.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family would like to express special thanks to Oak Landing Assisted Living, Gadsden Health Care, and Camelia Hospice.
The family will accept flowers or memorials can be made to Calvary Baptist Church, East Gadsden, or The C.V. Glassco Memorial Scholarship fund at Family Savings Credit Union.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
