Funeral Service will be at 2pm Saturday, August 20, at Crestwood Chapel for Mary White Ford, age 88, of Hokes Bluff, who died August 18, 2011. Rev. Bill Harbison will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta. Crestwood Memorial Funeral home will direct services.
Mrs. Ford was a longtime member of East Gadsden Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Susan Moore High School and had retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 40 years of service. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends to enjoy.
She is preceded in death by her husbands W.Y. White and Louis Ford; parents Tugalo and Isa Avery; sister Ruth Lattie; brothers Glenn Avery, Clarence Avery, and Russell Avery.
She is survived by her brother Dr. Jack Avery; nephew Joe (Julie) Avery; nieces Dot (James) Yancey, and Jane (Jim) Hicks; sister in law Lillis Avery; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of TLC Nursing Center in Oneonta, the staff at Regency Point; and Dr. Lennie Gibson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon until the hour of service.
