Mr. Marvin Kelley, 77 of Gadsden, died September 16, 2016. His funeral will be Tuesday at 6 P.M. in Crestwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harvey Beck officiating. Visitation will be 5 P.M. until time of funeral. There will be a Mass on Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church at 11 A.M. with Father Jose Chacko officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery.
He was a life long resident of Ball Play, Alabama. Marvin graduated from Hokes Bluff High School in 1957 and then attended Jacksonville State University. He retired from the State of Alabama after 35 years as a Construction Engineer with the Highway Department. He was married to his loving wife, Benilda Fernandez Kelley, for 45 years and they had one daughter, Nola Kelley.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Bessie Lee Baker Kelley and an infant brother, Jack. He was active in numerous organizations and was a life long animal lover. He will also be missed by Baby, Sparky, Daisy, and Dixie, his beloved dogs.
Survivors include wife, Benilda Kelley; daughter, Nola Kelley; special family friend, Susan Wilkes; cousins, Jack Kelley, Jr. (Nancy), Kyla Downs (David), Charlotte Langham (Steve), Robert Baker (Clemie), Billy Baker (Patsy), Ann Flynt (Jack - deceased), Bennie Bates, Judy Wells (Gary), Reginald Baker (Peggy); numerous other beloved cousins; special family/friends, Bobby and Verna Henderson, Jonathan, Lori, Noah, and Lainey Kate Beggs and Judie Reed.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Beggs, Jack Kelley, Jr., Wayne Whitt, Lamar Jaggears, John Bates and Jack Graves. Honorary Pallbearers are, Robert Baker, Billy Baker, Phil Williams, Knights of Columbus #9368, Gadsden Lodge #236, Queen City Chapter #135, O.E.S., Hokes Bluff Seniors and Friends, Red Cross of Constantine, Master Gardeners, Sons of the American Revolution.
