It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of, Martin Joseph Bethune (Joe), age 75, of Gadsden, Alabama, who passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2026, at Riverview Hospital.

Joe is survived by his wife Judy Bethune; daughter Christie Koehler; grandson John Carson (JC) Koehler; granddaughter Lily Koehler; sisters Brenda Farabee (Butch), Janice Griffin (Jan), and Vicky Turner (Steve); and brother Jerry P. Bethune. brother-in-law Joseph Dolphus Pruett (Joe); sister-in-law Jeffe M. Slocumb (Jacques); and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by parents Hoyt and Verma Bethune; parents-in-law Dolphus and Sidney Pruett; brother Kenneth Bethune; brother-in-law Venice Griffin and sister-in-law Pat Bethune.

Joe was an avid lover of horses and a devoted husband, dad, and “Pops.” Family was always the center of Joe’s life, and that love and dedication will be remembered by all who knew Joe.

Services will be held at Crestwood Chapel on April 28, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
