IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha "Dyralyn"
New
March 24, 1950 – January 25, 2022
Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday at Crestwood Chapel for Mrs. Martha "Dyralyn" New who passed away on the afternoon of January 25, 2022.
She grew up being called Dyralyn. However, it confused healthcare workers for years, so once she
moved into the nursing facility it was easier for them to say, "Martha" She was on a first name basis
with all of them.
Dyralyn was born and grew up in Gadsden all of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband
Roland L. New, father, Orin Walker, and her Daddy William (Bill), Kinsey, her mother, Jo Ann Kinsey,
and her brother William H. Kinsey, Jr.
Dyralyn is survived by her two sons, Brian New and Craig New, a grandson, Connor New. She is also
survived by her sister, Tina (Gary) Kinsey Quarles, and a "very special aunt" Ava Pruett. She is
survived by her brother in law, Charles (Cheryl) Reese and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins
who love her.
Dyralyn was an excellent cook. She mostly cooked just plain old southern food and it was a joy to sit
at her table. She also kept a very clean house. Between her two sons and herself, she made sure it
was spotless ••
Dyralyn was totally devoted to Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves baseball. She loved to dance
in her younger years. She could not be happier than to go on a "date" with her husband Roland, and
go dancing.
She was witty, charming, and very funny. There was always laughter when she was around.
Dyra, you are now with all of those loved ones who have gone before you. We can't wait to meet up again.
Pallbearers will be family and friends
The family would like to thank Northside Healthcare for loving Martha, and taking care of her the
best they could. We would also like to thank Riverview Regional Medical Center for the kind and
compassionate care that she received there.
Flowers will be accepted, or you may donate to the American Diabetes Association.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12 pm until the time of service
