Martha Hurst Denson, better known as Granny, was born December 4, 1921. She passed away on December 19, 2015 in Debary, Florida. She celebrated her 94th birthday on December 4th surrounded by family and newest great-granddaughter, Lacy Kate, born October 9th. She has now joined in heaven her parents Henry and Bertha Hurst, brothers William, Robert, Harris, James and Jackson Hurst, husband Robert W. Denson, son-in-law Jack Busby and great-grandson Major B. Harding III. She is survived by her sisters Betty Lucas and JoAnne Huber (Jay), brothers Forrest Hurst and Donald Hurst(Alice), daughters Phyllis Busby and Becca Raysin (Harry), sons Les Denson (Mary) and Bobby Denson, eight beautiful grandchildren and thirteen treasured great-grandchildren. She had a successful career as a real estate broker in Gainesville and Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville and Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She was a dear, sweet, kind soul who loved the Lord Jesus Christ, her family and many friends. She was a talented seamstress and cook and especially took great delight in baking for others. She loved to laugh and entertain friends and family with jokes and storytelling! She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the FSU Seminoles, all Alabama teams and the Atlanta Braves. She never missed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Dancing with the Stars and the Gaither's Saturday night gospel hour. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held at Crestwood Cemetary in Gadsden, Alabama on January 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
