Obituary

Martha Mildred Brown Sanders, age 99, Centre, departed this life on April 19, 2017. Funeral will be Noon on Saturday, April 22, 2017, Crestwood Funeral Home. Family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Rev. Rodney Ledbetter, son-in-law and Dennis Dewberry, nephew, will officiate. Interment at Beulah Baptist Cemetery, Albertville, Alabama.
Mrs. Sanders epitomized the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She saw well to the ways of her household, taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church of Albertville and attended Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, Gadsden for over 40 years until her health prohibited attendance. She was an active member of the Pauline Bynum Sunday School Class (Formerly Class of Ruth).
She is survived by her sons, Johnny Brown (Linda) Sanders Albertville, Randall Sanders, Centre, and daughter, Dianne (Rodney) Ledbetter, Piedmont; grandchildren: Jason (Kristy) Sanders, Bella Vista, AR; Jeremiah (Megan) Ledbetter, Aiken, SC; Joshua (Hope) Led better, Birmingham; Benjamin (Kaycee) Ledbetter, Calera; Rachel Ledbetter, Mobile; Jonathan Ledbetter and Fiance' Brooke Wood and Rebekah Ledbetter, Piedmont. Three-Great-Grandchildren: John Owen and Ian Brown Sanders, Bella Vista, AR; Lily Ledbetter, Aiken, SC and two unborn great grandchildren. Special niece: Barbara (Jim) Brooks, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Beamon Sanders, two infant sons, parents, Benjamin Oliver and Laura Graves Brown; siblings, Kermit (Mattie) Brown and Dell (Thomas) Dewberry; brothers and sisters-in-laws: L. Z. (Hal) Clark, Inez (Alston) Martin, Jesse (Genell) Sanders and nephews, Keith Dewberry and Bobby Sanders.
Mrs. Sanders was a native of Dekalb County and lived in Marshall County for many years before moving to Etowah County where she resided until she entered long-term care in Centre.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandson: Jason, Jeremiah, Joshua, Benjamin, Rachel, Jonathan, Rebekah and John Owen. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Pauline Bynum Sunday School Class of Goodyear Heights and Ben & Mexie Elkins.
Special thanks to Dr. Byron Nelson and staff and the staff of Cherokee County Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given to Beulah Baptist Cemetery Perpetual Care or The Gideons International.
