February 18, 1933 – September 23, 2023
Funeral Service for Marshall "Harold " Gross, age 90, of Alabama City, will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 2pm in Crestwood Chapel. Rev. Richard Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 12 until 2pm Wednesday.
Harold was a lifelong resident of Alabama City. He was a veteran, having served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from college with a degree in Business Administration. Harold worked at Republic Steel Plant (and its successors) until his retirement with 40 years of service. He was a member of Alabama City Methodist Church and has served as a trustee. He was also an active member of the Alabama City Lions as long as health permitted. He was a regular with the Jacks Breakfast Club, Alabama City Chapter.
Harold enjoyed doing yardwork and mowing lawns; and got even greater joy out of helping his neighbors by mowing their lawns as well. He had caring spirit and was always taking care of others.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marshal and Pink Gross and siblings Fred Gross, Pady Gross, Robert "Bob" Gross, Tootsie Green, Mary Nell Vice, and Ruth Bowldin.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia "Pat" Gross; daughters Charlotte Partee (David) and Cheryl Edwards; grandchildren Haley Griffith (Greg), Courtney Partee Chandler, Colton Edwards, and Chelsea Edwards; great grandchildren Dalton Griffith, Dylan Griffith, Brooklyn Chandler, Kaitlyn Chandler, Aubrey Edwards, and Bristol Edwards; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Center Well Home Health and Gentiva Hospice.
The family is accepting flowers or memorials may be made to the Alabama City Methodist Church, 2801 Sansom Avenue, Gadsden, Alabama 35904.
