IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marianne
Pegues
September 18, 1948 – September 8, 2025
A private graveside service will be held for Marianne Dickert Pegues of Columbus, GA, formerly of Peachtree City, GA, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston, AL. with the Reverend Derrick Hartley officiating.
Ms. Pegues passed away on September 8, 2025, in Columbus, GA.
Marianne was born on September 18, 1948, in Anniston, AL, the first of 3 children born to Hogan and Margaret Dickert. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a BA in Art and received her Master's and Specialist Degrees in Art from the University of Georgia. In addition, she was National Board Certified in Art. Marianne was a dedicated educator who taught art for over 30 years at Braelinn Elementary School in Peachtree City, GA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Peachtree City for many years. She loved painting, reading, lying by the pool, and doing pottery, but her greatest love was spending time with her children and her grandchildren, who called her "Nana."
In 2003, Marianne wrote the winning essay for a contest sponsored by The Japanese American Friendship Society (JAFS) and was named the 2004 Educator to Japan, which provided her a guided trip to the country, a dream come true and a source of pride for her as an educator.
Ms. Pegues was preceded in death by her parents, Hogan and Margaret Dickert. She is survived by her son Jonathan Pegues (Jennifer) of Suwanee, GA; her daughter Summer DiCesaris (Jonathan) of Columbus, GA; her brother Michael Dickert (Angela) of Anniston, AL; her sister Sharon Supplee (Dave) of Moody, AL; and grandchildren Matthew Pegues, Evan Pegues, Kaley DiCesaris, and Raelyn DiCesaris.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Pegues, Evan Pegues, and Jon DiCesaris
At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
