Margie Jean Pate Jones Stone (known affectionally as Mama Jean) passed away peacefully at NHC, Anderson, SC, November 29.  She was born June 18, 1929, in Gadsden, Alabama to Adena Maddox Pate and William Olin Pate. She lived the first sixty five years of her life in Gadsden where she graduated from Emma Samson High School and was a member of Dwight Baptist and Lewis Street Baptist Church.

Mama Jean was a devoted mother to her four children and will be forever remembered for her unconditional love, kindness, and ever present smile. She was a self taught seamstress and could design any piece of clothing or item you could describe to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Bill G. Jones, Jerry L Stone, daughter Susan Jones Handy Bowling, son Rance Derwin Jones, daughter-in law Lisa Gross Jones, son-in-law Dr. H. Lee Bowling, and sister Christine Pate Northcott.

She is survived by daughter, Sheron Jones Lee (Chuck) Anderson, SC, and Lance Darrick Jones (Wanda) Anderson, SC, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at NHC for their years of devoted love and care.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, December 2 at Crestwood Funeral Home, Gadsden, Alabama.  The family will receive friends from 1-2 prior to the service.
