A graveside service will be held for Margaret Brigandi Martin, age 93 of Peeks Hill, on Thursday; March 12, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, with Father Bryan Lowe officiating.

Mrs. Martin was born in 1921 in Somerville, MA to a large middle-class, Italian immigrant family. She served for a brief time in the Women's Army Corp during WWII while stationed at Camp Blanding, Florida. After the war she married Pleasant Miller Martin, a good looking, slow talking young sailor from Peeks Hill, Alabama.

She loved her husband, her family and her friends. She was a wonderful cook, gardener, and quilter and was a generous giver. She was also a woman with very, very strong opinions and would voice those opinions vociferously at every given opportunity. Her family loved her very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, P.M. Martin; her parents, six sisters, one brother, and several nephews.

Survivors include two brothers, Basil Brigandi and Alfred Brigandi; daughter, Judith Doss and her husband Doug; two sons, Gerard Martin and Alfred Martin; grandchildren, Amanda Edmundson, Jessica Haney (John), Amy Martin, Silas Martin, Blake Martin, Charles Martin (Bonnie), Sabrina Martin, Sarah Martin, and Alex Doss (Katy); nine beautiful great-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the NHC Staff and Dr. Hannah for their patient and loving attention that was given to our mother while she was in their care.
