Maggie Lou Dupree passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on June 15, 2024. Born and raised in Alabama City, she attended Emma Sansom High School and was a cherished member of Litchfield Avenue Baptist Church, where she shared her beautiful voice in praise and served her church family with devotion.
From a young age, Maggie displayed her musical talent, entertaining classmates during naptime at school. Later in life, she pursued her entrepreneurial spirit as the owner and operator of Fun In The Sun Tanning Salon and Barber Shop, where she brightened the lives of her clients with her infectious joy.
Maggie had a passion for singing and dancing, and her love extended especially to children, including her own beloved children and grandchildren. She lovingly cared for her mother for over four years, embodying compassion and dedication.
Maggie Lou Dupree is preceded in death by her husband Roy Lee Dupree, son Robert Patterson, parents D.E. and Lena Beshears, and sisters Ruth Snell and Virginia "Ginny" Beshears. She is survived by her sons Mark Dupree and Michael (Tammy) Dupree; grandchildren Junior Murphy, Jessica Martin, April (Eugene) Tallman, Vinny Dupree, Ashlyn Valachi, and Olivia "Livy" (Tyler) Griffitt; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Sue Stewart (the late Bill);brothers Charles (Nona) Beshears and Dr. Roger (Annette) Beshears; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends, especially Myra Howard.
Maggie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will be forever cherished by her family, friends, and the community she touched throughout her life.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver and friend Shelly Tuttle, as well as the nurses and staff of Northside Healthcare, Jaye Beggs and the nurses and staff of ACG Hospice. Maggie was blessed to have been cared for by such loving and dedicated people.
Funeral Service will be 11 AM Friday June 21, 2024 at Crestwood Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 AM until the hour of service. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Dr. Roger Beshears will officiate. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
