Funeral Service will be at 12:00 Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Crestwood Chapel for Mable C. Hammonds, age 86. Rev. Jerry Pike will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Piedmont. Crestwood Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Hammonds was a native of Calhoun County, having lived in the piedmont area most of her life. She had worked in several textile mills and did a lot of sewing and alterations in her home. She was a long time member of Northside Baptist Church in Piedmont. She is preceded in death by her parents, F.B.(Bert) and Hester Cheatwood; Husband, V.J. (Jay) Hammonds; Brother, Monroe Cheatwood; Several other family members and a host of friends.
She is survived by her son, John (Nelma) Hammonds; Granddaughters, Shelley Dunn, Stacey (Allen) Walls; Step Grandson, Brandon Bell; 5 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Edna (Louis) Hammonds; Several Nieces and Nephews.
