Funeral services will be 3 pm Friday, at Crestwood Chapel, for Mrs. Lucille Askew, age 91, of Gadsden who died Wednesday. Reverend Mike Hammonds will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home announcing.

Mrs. Askew was born in Norfolk Virginia and met her husband Jack at a USO Dance. They married and moved to Alabama where they raised 5 children. She loved flower arranging, playing cards with family and friends, baking, especially her Banana nut bread, she loved visiting shut-ins and quality time with her family kids and grandkids. Folks are going to miss her birthday cards, she loved sending them to everybody.   She was a longtime member of Belevue Methodist Church where she was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Askew sons, Jim and Gary Askew, brothers, James and Tommy and her parents.

She is survived by children Kenneth (Arowana) Askew, Brenda (Tony) Purcell, Linda(Mike) Hammonds, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dementia and Alzheimer's research.

Special thanks to granddaughters Tera, Brandy, and grandson Cale, and granddaughter in law Kendall for the special time they spent with their Memaw. A big thanks to all the nurses, CNA's, LPN'S at Attalla Nursing Home and Comfort Care Hospice for their loving care.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 2 pm until the time of service.
