Funeral services will be held 2pm Monday at Crestwood Chapel for Mr. Louis E. Upton age 85 of Gadsden ,who died Friday June 27,2014.Chaplain Matt Rose will officiate. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mr. Upton retired from Kaiser Aluminum of Illinois with 21 years of service. He was president of the Senior Bowling league at Rainbow Lanes. He gave up bowling to care for his wife Billie when she became ill. He was a very kind soft spoken humble man. He was a loving husband , father ,grandfather great grandfather, brother and friend to all he met. He will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Billie Butler Upton, son Edward Michael Upton, brothers Jim and G.P and sister Bessie.
He is survived by sister in-law Pat(Robert) Gulledge ,daughter in-law Joan Upton, Nieces Kim Gulledge, Kristie (Wil) Reed ,Pam Geer ,nephew Mike Geer ,and great nephew Logan Reed. Grandchildren Wendy and Glen Wells, great grandchildren Christian, Justin , Nicholas, and Ava Marie Wells.
Pallbearers will be Tim Simonton, Justin Wells, Christian Wells, Glenn Wells, Mike Geer and Pam Geer.
Special thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice especially Janet, Laura, Crystal ,Tammy and Matt.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from noon until the time of service.
