In Loving Memory of Lois Katherine Davis Wells
1926 – 2024
Lois Katherine Davis Wells, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 98. Her life, spanning nearly a century, was a testament to love, faith, and family.
Born on June 26, 1926, in rural northeast Alabama, to a Methodist minister and his wife, Katherine grew up with a deep appreciation for God, church, and the cycles of life. She began playing the piano for church at the age of eight, an activity she continued to enjoy for eighty years.
As a teenager, she attended Gadsden High School and later married J.D. Wells, a soldier in World War II. Her life's work was her family. She raised a daughter, Gloria, who cherishes her mother's determination to make things work. She was also the proud grandmother of three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who will remember her as a vivacious, adventurous, and godly woman.
Katherine was known for her deep friendships, her sense of humor, and her sewing creations.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Stuckey (Don); grandchildren, Cynthia Stuckey (Mark Clifton), Michelle Preston (Chris), Nathan Stuckey; and great-grandchild, Kendall Preston and her sister Dean Plemons Bryant (Mike) Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Willard J.D. Wells.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Stuckey, Mark Clifton, Chris Preston, Scott Mayhall, Skyler Cross, and Parker Cross.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sammye Hill and the staff at TLC Nursing.
A celebration of her extraordinary life will be held at Hokes Bluff Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. A visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the church.
