Lois W. Starnes, of Glencoe, was born on Valentine's Day in 1917 and was a sweetheart all her life, which ended on July 30, 2013. One morning, just a short time before her death, she had a vision of Heaven and said it was too beautiful to describe in words.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Houston E. Starnes; and several brothers and sisters.
A member of Glencoe Baptist Church, Mrs. Starnes was living with her daughter, Sandra Starnes Gardner, in Trussville, Ala., at the time of her death.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by granddaughter, Paige Gardner Smith; and grandson, Patrick Starnes Gardner; great-grandchildren, Kearney Smith, Graham Smith, twins Rowan and Malcolm Smith, Gabrielle Gardner and John Michael Gardner, all of Trussville. She is also survived by one sister, Nell Todd.
Visitation will be at Crestwood Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, with graveside service to be held at noon. Family requests no flowers.
