Obituary

Funeral services will be 1 pm Friday at Crestwood Chapel for Lois Wallace East Garmon, 87 of Gadsden, Alabama. She went to be with Lord, December 31, 2017. Lois was born on April 7, 1930 in Hartselle, Alabama. Rev. Mike Chapman will officiate.  She is the daughter of Celesta and Bascom Wallace. Lois was the Jr. Strawberry Queen of Cullman County in 1943 and she attended Gadsden High School. On January 21, 1948, Lois married Ted R. East, Sr. they enjoyed 44 years of marriage together. Lois and Ted worked together at their Dairy Farm and East Milling Co, most of their married lives. Lois was thoroughly devoted to her family. She spent many hours at school events, plays, recitals, etc... Lois loved to cook; she catered many weddings and parties over the years.

Ted R East, Sr. passed away February 2, 1992. Lois began working at Senior Outreach of Glencoe, Al. There, she met Milford Garmon and they were married April 20, 1996. Milford Garmon passed away March 2010; Lois worked tirelessly for her family her whole life. Her children, grand children and great-grandchildren adored her. She loved her friends and neighbors at Melodie Meadows and enjoyed playing and shared hosting for the Domino Ladies weekly. Lois was a member of First United Methodist of Glencoe for most of her life and currently a member of First Baptist Church of Glencoe.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Celesta and Bascom Wallace, siblings; Evelyn Robertson, Louise Perry, and Linda Traylor, and her spouses Ted R East Sr. and Milford Garmon.

Lois is survived by her children; Ted R East Jr(Rosemary) of Glencoe, Connie E McGrew (Joe) of Danville Virginia and David East of Glencoe, grandchildren; Marie E Cole(Cass), Ginger E Smith(David), Kristy E Turner(John), Celeste M Bathini(William), Josh Fordham(Amanda), Matthew East(Jamie) and Joseph McGrew, great-grandchildren; Steven Kell, Kelsey Bombard(Seth), Molly Kell, Chase and Cody McBurnett, Rachel Cole (Garrett), Ariel Cole, Micah and Jesse Turner, Kalie Smith, Hunter Fordham, Vannessa, Moises, Ali, and Sophia Gomez, one great-great-grandson Kason Cole and many precious nieces and nephews who adored her.

Pallbearers are Josh Fordham, Matthew East, Joseph McGrew, Steven Kell, Chase McBurnettk, Micah Turner.

The family will receive friends Friday from 11 am until the time of service.
