Visitation will be 11:00-1:00, with Funeral to follow at 1:00 on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Crestwood for Linda Carol (Lancaster) Cole, 65, of Alabama City. She crossed to her eternal home on April 9, 2016. Rev. Thomas Brown and Rev. Nathan Glenn will officiate. Burial to follow at Crestwood Cemetery, Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Linda was a 1969 graduate of Emma Sansom High School and married William H. Cole, Jr. on June 8, 1969. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. In her younger years, she loved teaching children's Sunday School at South Gadsden Church of God. She was an avid sports fan, supporting her boys in youth sports and loved to watch Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Flora Mae (Womack) Lancaster, In-laws William H. and Jacqueline (Cearley) Cole, Sr. Other family members now rejoicing with her in Heaven are her brother and sister in law Terry and Mary (Cole) Lancaster, Sister in law Ruth Ann (Cole) Moore, Brother and sister in law Larry and Geraldine Cole, niece Susan Nichelle Lancaster, and nephew Josh Wilkins.
Those remaining to greet her again include her loving husband of 46 years, William H. Cole, Jr., sons William O. (Billy) and Savannah (Wall) Cole, Timothy and Carrie (Lamkin) Cole; Granddaughter Olivia Brooke Cole; Sisters Brenda (David) Cole, Glenda (Bruce ) Calhoun, Rhonda Lancaster; Brothers Dennis Lancaster and Paul (Darcy) Lancaster; In-laws Mamie (Johnny) Armistead, Doug (Sharon) Cole, Judy (Benny) Higgins, and Jim Moore. Three generations of nieces and nephews also remain to cherish her memory.
She loved and desired to help children, so in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or your other favorite charity.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Steel, Jake Steel, Greg Smith, James Robinson, Jared Lamkin, Matthew Pierce, Scott Wall and BJ Spruce. Honorary Pallbearers will be her host of nephews.
Special thanks to Dr. Higgins, Dr. Warren, Amy McGlaughn, CRNP, Dr. Robinson, and Dr. Davenport for their assistance with her care over the last several months. Additionally, the family wishes to extend gratitude to GRMC 9th floor Nurse Rhonda, and to SICU Nurse Christie Bobo and her host of sister nurses that prayed over Linda in our brief absence as she was called home. To the others that participated in her care at GRMC and Gentiva, we may not know your names, but we cannot thank you enough for your loving care and support.
