Lila Joan Mordecai passed away on November 29th at the age of 84. Funeral services will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery on December 7th with visitation from 10:00-11:00 A.M. with service following.

Joan was born in Hokes Bluff to Ida Susan and Eugene Gordon Marbut. She graduated from Hokes Bluff High School and later married George Wayne Mordecai. They raised their two children in Glencoe. She was an X-ray technician and worked for many years at East Gadsden Clinic and Goodyear Medical Center. She was an active member of Glencoe Church of Christ where she and her twin sister Jean taught the young children in Sunday School. Her hobbies were reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her siblings Polly, Jean, Easel, Harold, Mutt, and Wayne. Surviving are her two children Davis Eugene Mordecai (Lisa) and Stacy Elaine Merkle (Jonathan), 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Davis Mordecai, John Mordecai, Jonathan Merkle, Evan Merkle, Zach Merkle, and Wayburn Burttram.
