Funeral will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Crestwood Chapel for Leatrice "Lea" Martin, 69, of Glencoe, who passed away from an unexpected sudden illness on Friday, December 26, 2014. Rev. Keith Hudson will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of directing services.
She will be remembered by many for the lives she touched as she worked with special education students her entire career. She was a positive person who saw good in everything. She left you feeling better. She loved her sorority sisters of the Xi Alpha Pi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and was still active with them. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, including her beloved yorkie, Teakie Chew. She loved all and will be dearly missed. She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Glencoe First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Aubrey-Anna; parents, John D. and Myrtle Willis; and cousins, Fredra Boshell and Joseph Eads.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, David Martin; daughters, Michelle Roberts and Jennifer (Rodney) Steeley; grandchildren, Jake-Aaron, Brooke, Ty Jackson; first cousin, Charles Eads; and her special friends, Debbie Scott, Barbara Wallace and DeAnna Notaro.
Flowers will be accepted or donations to United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
