Lavoy" Sonny" Conn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28th at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. His funeral service will be at 1pm Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Crestwood Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:30 until the hour of service. Revs. Chris Walker and David Little will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Sonny was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend to all. He was a 1960 graduate of Etowah High School. After graduation he served in the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Bliss . He was a retiree of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company . He enjoyed many years playing golf and had recently taken up bass fishing. He loved sports and children and you could always find him at a game supporting "his kids" wearing a team shirt they had given him. Sonny always had a smile. He loved life , his family and friends, but most of all he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Sonny is preceded in passing by his parents Howard Lavoy Conn and Margie Bell Gilliland Conn and his previous wife Gail Lankford Conn.
He is survived by his wife Terry Conn; children Phillip (Heather) Tidwell, Kristen (Doug) Fuhrman, and Drew Carlson; grandchildren Berkeley Tidwell, and Laney and Grant Fuhrman; brother Charles (Paula) Conn; brother in law Chris (Donna) Walker; a host of nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly.
Pallbearers will be Billy Brice, Drew Carlson, Mickey Conn, Doug Fuhrman, Warren Fuhrman, Jay Stewart, Phil Tidwell, and Chris Walker.
Honorary pallbearers are Jackie Jones and Brandon Lyles.
