Elkins, Larry Richard
Funeral service will be at 4:00pm Friday, Nov.16, at Crestwood Chapel, for Larry Richard Elkins, age 66, of Glencoe, who died Wednesday November 14, 2007. Dan Elkins and Rev. Blake Champion will officiate. Crestwood Funeral Home is in directing.
Mr. Elkins was born October 16, 1941; He had served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He had worked at Gulf States Steel and was a retired member of the Glencoe Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, L.D. and Virginia Elkins; Sister, Sheila Ward and Brother, Billy Ray Elkins.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Elkins; Children Lisa (Tim) Whitten, Hokes Bluff, Dan Elkins, Birmingham, Julie (David) Blackmon, Arab; Grandchildren, Lauren and Megan Whitten, Jonathan and Lindsey Elkins, and Hannah Blackmon; Brothers, Gary Elkins, Eddie Elkins; Sisters Mary Peters, Pam Elkins; several nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Milton Henson and the Glencoe Fire Department.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Elkins, Tim Whitten, David Blackmon, David Elkins, Leon Gault, and Dennis Gault.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Lynn Washburn and Coosa Valley Health Care.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2:00pm until the hour of service.
