Obituary

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Crestwood Chapel for Kenneth Lee Maltbie, 66, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away Feb. 26, 2013. The Rev. Bill Harbison will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct services.
Mr. Maltbie had retired from Goodyear with 25 years of service and had worked with the SAP program at Etowah County Jail for eight years. He was a member of East Gadsden Baptist Church. He was also a Mason and had his lifetime membership through the Ed Christopher Lodge.
Kenneth was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Willie Ruth Maltbie; and his mother and father-in-law, Donald and Dot Gray.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Maltbie; sons, Ken Maltbie and Scott Maltbie; grandchildren, Brooke Maltbie, Brantley Maltbie and Ashley Hale; brother-in-law, Roy (Carol) Gray; sisters-in-law, Connie Gray, Kathy (Layton) Smith, Carris Hale, Lynn (Roger) Patterson, Helen (Randy) Phillips and Cappy (Rick) Naylor; special cousin, Anita Norris; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Elrod, Eric Frazier, Bill Watson, Tommy Johnson, Wayne Greene and his many friends.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of New Beacon Hospice, special niece Erica Frasier, the Rev. Bill Harbison, and the many people who called, sent cards and showed their concern.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 until 8.
